Resilient Infrastructures: Land-based Infrastructures for Climate Change Adaptation

By April 8, 2024November 11th, 2024No Comments

a square grid of nine images from the Resilient Infrastructures exhibitResilient Infrastructures tests ‘low-tech’ land-based infrastructures as alternative infrastructural forms for climate change adaptation through collecting, diagramming, and organizing existing formal typologies across a wide range of disciplines, including landscape architecture, anthropology, and land management. Iterative making — drawing, digital modeling, model-making, and small-scale installations — manipulate, thicken, adapt, explode, and otherwise alter existing forms to uncover new ideas about temporality, materiality, and landscape performance. The work explores the potential for land-based infrastructures as a form of resilient infrastructure that structures landscape change across temporal and spatial scales, positioning cities, landscapes, and the built environment to be adaptable in the face of uncertain futures.
