We have experienced another exciting, evolving year at the University of Minnesota Libraries, with advances that included our students, faculty, staff, and the wider community whom we support.

In this Impact Report, among other facts, you’ll see that:

• the Toaster continues to be a hot spot for students to gather;
• online tutorials created by our librarians open up the world of research for thousands; and
• students have been 100% satisfied with the tutoring they received from Peer Research Consultants.

Website searches numbering 1.7 million translate to a lot of information found, shared, and, we believe, incorporated into research projects. The nearly 1 million visits to the Libraries on the U of M’s Twin Cities campus add up to a substantial amount of study time — and, we hope, student success!

In the last few years, Zoom has changed the way we meet. But just as the invention of radio didn’t entirely erase live musical performances, online meetings have not replaced the power of seeing each other In Real Life.

For example, I am so pleased that in 2022 we were able to reinstate our Minnesota Institute for Early-Career Librarians with an in-person format! One of our instructors, Ione Damasco, commented: “Being in person really allowed them to be their whole selves in that space and really focus on what was happening in the classroom.”
