The Elmer L. Andersen Library is located on the West Bank of the Twin Cities Campus of the University of Minnesota.

This state-of-the-art facility houses many of the University’s special collections and archives units, as well as the Digital Library Services’ digitization center.

    Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 10 for an exhibit closing reception, celebrating the archive and artwork of Harriet Bart, a leading Twin Cities artist. Active from the 1970s to the present, Bart’s artistic career and achievements are illuminated, bringing to light her creative process and work that has consistently examined the intersection of visual and performative art, history, poetry, and science.

    The Friends of the Kerlan are proud to announce that celebrated artist, author, and woodblock printmaker Betsy Bowen will be the recipient of the 2026 Kerlan Award. The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at the Elmer L. Andersen Library. This hybrid event is free and open to all. Registration is required to attend in person or online.

    The Kerlan Collection at the University of Minnesota Libraries will host Cynthia Leitich Smith on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026, for the ALSC ALA Children’s Literature Lecture at the Elmer L. Andersen Library. The Children’s Literature Lecture is an annual event featuring an author, critic, librarian, historian, or teacher of children’s literature, of any country, who shall prepare a paper considered to be a significant contribution to the field of children’s literature.
